Ice Hockey WA (IHWA) would like to inform our community of a recent decision by the National Sports Tribunal (NST) in a disciplinary matter that originated in 2024.

The NST is an independent body that reviews disputes and appeals in Australian sport. A matter involving IHWA and a member was referred to the NST by Ice Hockey Australia earlier this year. After reviewing the case, the NST has now released its final determination.

IHWA accepts the Tribunal’s decision. While the events leading to this review occurred under previous governance structures, we recognise the importance of continually improving how we manage disciplinary processes, member communication, and integrity obligations.

IHWA is working with Sport Integrity Australia, the Department of Cultural Industries, Tourism and Sport, and SportWest to strengthen our internal policies, education pathways, and governance processes. This work will form part of a broader update to our policies, disciplinary procedures, and strategic plan for the 2026 Season, to ensure our approach aligns with national best practice and supports a safe, fair, and welcoming environment for everyone in the WA ice hockey community.

We appreciate the continued support and understanding of our members, volunteers, players, and officials.

As this matter is now concluded, IHWA will not be making further comment on the specifics of the determination.
