IHWA LEAGUES

Ice Hockey WA facilitates, manages and runs state-based elite competitions for our members and participants to play in. Currently there are two main leagues a Senior League consisting of 6 divisions and a Junior League consisting of 5 divisional age groups. IHWA in conjunction with Inclusive Skating assists with the delivery of a Sled Hockey League.

SENIOR LEAGUE

IHWA runs a competitive senior league competition every year from March to October. The senior league consists of checking hockey in Premier League and non-checking hockey in Division 1, Division 2, Division 3, Division 4 and Division 5. The league is played predominately during the weekend with games scheduled at both Cockburn Ice Arena (Bibra Lake) and Perth Ice Arena (Malaga).

Composition:
The Premier League consists of five teams – Flyers Blue, Flyers Orange, Blackhawks, Vikings and the AJIHL Sharks Team.

JUNIOR LEAGUE

IHWA runs a competitive junior league competition every year from March to October. The junior league consists of checking hockey in 18/U Midgets and non-checking hockey in 15/U Bantam, 13/U Peewee, 11/U Atoms and U/9 Mites. The league is played predominately during the weekend with games scheduled at both Cockburn Ice Arena (Bibra Lake) and Perth Ice Arena (Malaga).

The 18/U Midgets league consists of four teams – Flyers Blue, Flyers Orange, Blackhawks and Icehawks.

SLED HOCKEY

IHWA in conjunction with Inclusive Skating run an all-abilities league competition of Sled Hockey, every year from April to September. 2021 was the first year Sled Hockey was played in Western Australia. The league consists of four teams with a mixture of players who are abled and disabled playing together in an inclusive environment. The league is played predominately during the weekend with games scheduled at Cockburn Ice Arena (Bibra Lake).
